About Chamas.pt

About Chamas.pt: independent platform for monitoring rural fires in Portugal, with public sources ANEPC/PROCIV, IPMA, NASA FIRMS, ICNF and EFFIS.

What is Chamas.pt

Chamas.pt is an independent platform for monitoring rural fires in Portugal. It aggregates and correlates public data from ANEPC/PROCIV, IPMA, NASA FIRMS, ICNF and EFFIS/Copernicus to provide a more accessible visualization and consultation experience.

What data is available

  • Active and recent rural fire incidents from ANEPC/PROCIV
  • Fire status, personnel, ground and aerial resources
  • IPMA weather risk and fire danger indices
  • NASA FIRMS satellite hotspots (MODIS and VIIRS)
  • EFFIS/Copernicus burned area products when available
  • Pages by district and municipality for local lookup

Important notice

Chamas.pt is an informational tool. It does not replace official emergency services, civil protection, firefighters or authorities. In case of immediate danger, call 112.

The data may be delayed, corrected, unavailable or differ from the real situation on the ground. Always follow instructions from Civil Protection, authorities and official entities.

How Chamas.pt works

Chamas.pt automatically processes public data from multiple sources and cross-references them on an interactive map. The static pages provide a fast, indexable alternative to the JavaScript map, with direct links for searches like active fires by district, wildfire in a municipality or PROCIV incident.

The methodology for correlating sources is documented on the methodology page. The status of each data source can be checked on the source status page.
