Weather warnings in Portugal
IPMA weather warnings and civil protection alerts in Portugal: fire risk, wind, temperature and rain by district.
Active IPMA warnings
IPMA weather warnings are classified by color: green (information), yellow (risk), orange (high risk) and red (extreme risk). Chamas.pt displays the rural fire risk (RCM) on the main map and on the fire risk page.
For official updated weather warnings, visit the IPMA portal.
Relationship between warnings and fires
Rural fire risk depends on several meteorological factors: temperature, humidity, wind and recent precipitation. IPMA calculates the RCM (Conjunctural and Meteorological Risk) per municipality, combining the FWI (Fire Weather Index) with the territory hazard map. When the RCM is high, the probability of ignition and fire spread increases significantly.
Chamas.pt cross-references IPMA risk data with PROCIV/ANEPC incidents on the main map, allowing visualization of the correlation between weather conditions and active fires.
